Nicholas Wilson’s interest in photography was sparked as a teenager while assisting his next-door neighbour, an international photojournalist who regularly travelled to Afghanistan and the Middle East, developing film and prints in a black-and-white darkroom. The power of a single still image to convey emotion and tell a story became a lasting draw.

He secured a cadetship with The Adelaide Advertiser before moving to Sydney to work with The Daily Telegraph and The Australian. Sport photography became a particular passion, leading to his appointment as the first Getty Images photographer in Australia. His career took him around the world, covering Olympic Games, Commonwealth Games, World Athletics Championships, America’s Cup regattas, and Cricket and Rugby World Cups.

In 2004, he founded Nicholas Wilson Photography, shifting his focus toward portrait and advertising photography with extensive work across the entertainment industry. He is regularly commissioned by all the major networks including Nine Entertainment, Network Seven, Ten Network, SBS and ABC, and shoots key art campaigns for Paramount Plus, Stan, Foxtel, Amazon Prime, and Disney.

Alongside this, he has developed a strong body of automotive work through ongoing collaborations with Mitsubishi Motors Australia.

Nicholas is based in Sydney, where he lives with his wife, three teenage sons, and two labradors.
